Update: This appears to be my most loved deviation by the people on here, so I now include this old collage I made of the process of painting it. [link] From sketch to coloured. Note that I never paint like that anymore, I have a lot of problems with those black outlines. 
Painter 7, completely.
Painted in "Painter 7" using a graphical tablet, and the 'wallpaper' elements were simply added in Paint Shop Pro 7. Referene used was a small photo of a miniature space marine. Colour and insignia/logo scheme was not referenced. Estimated time to do all this you ask? About 20 hours.
"Adeptus Astartes" refers to the name given to the genetically modified warriors he created by inserting an organ cloned from any of the original 20 Primarches.
The soldier is one such human belonging to the Blood Angels chapter. All taken from Warhammer 40,000 tabletop game universe. They stand over 7 feet (213cm) tall.
Note that if you enjoyed this or Warhammer 40,000 in general, I have another (better, imho) Blood Angels marine in my gallery.
~gw-club is a good spot for Warhammer fans.
EDIT: Due to my monitor settings being far too dark when painting this, it appeared too bright. Gamma has now been reduced by a massive 25% to get it back to the way it looked like to me when painting it.
